WB 5.12.22 - Team 3

Date: 9th Dec 2022 @ 2:20pm

Hello!

There has been so much going on this week that I don't quite know where to begin!

The chidren who are in the choir have been rehearsing lots and represented our school brilliantly at Chester Cathedral last night. a big well done to those children (and parents) for this. The preparations are well underway for the Christmas markets next Tuesday. Further to Mr Lawrie's letter and just as a reminder, the children are expected to stay until 4pm that night so that they can man the stalls and sell their goods. They will also be singing some classic Christmas tunes to get you into the spirit. Please come along and see all that they have achieved over the last few weeks, I know they are very excited to share their hard work with you.

In Maths this week, we have started to look at the 4 times tables and patterns which we could use to help us memorise these. We know that all multiples of 4 are even numbers, we also learned that if we know a fact such as 5 x 4 = 20, we can use that knowledge to help us learn other facts by simply adding on 4 or subtracting 4 e.g. I know that 5 x 4 = 20 so I know that 4 x 4 = 16 and I know that 6 x 4 = 24. Please continue to encourage your child to use TT Rockstars regularly to help develop their multiplication knowledge.

In English, we have just finished our end of unit writing for 'Winter's Child', where children have written their own version of the story. It is lovely to see how their writing is developing. We will start a new book in the New Year. In reading, we are still enjoying 'A Boy Called Christmas' and are determined to get it finished before we break for Christmas, it really is a race against the clock now!

In RE, we continue to learn about Christianity and have focused on 'The Prodigal Son' and 'The Lost Sheep' parables. We considered how important it is to forgive even though forgiving someone can be difficult at times.

It is the school Christmas fair tonight from 5-7pm, please come along, have fun and support us.

In addition to the Christmas Markets on Tuesday, we have the school Christmas dinner on Wednesday and class parties on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday morning we have a travelling panto (OH YES WE DO!!!).

Phew!

Have a great weekend.
