Team 6: wb 4.1.23

Hey everyone! Hope you've had a wonderful New Year.

Today in assembly we created a thing called a 'smile box' where we wrote things such as jokes, compliments and other things to make people smile. Team 6 got to write down the ideas with their buddies. We put the messages in the smile box, and every Friday we will take a message out to be read out loud. The message should make us all smile.

In English, we have been learning about immigration from the Carribean Islands after WW2. We found out about Floella's journey to Britain when she was 10 years old in 1960.

In Reading this week, the theme has been sportspeople. Today we read about Venus and Serena Williams, 2 young girls who defied all odds to become tennis champions. They started out not knowing a thing about tennis, to completing in tennis tournaments. They had supposed 'magic' of determination - never giving up on their dream.
