Team 5 WB 3.1.24
Date: 5th Jan 2024 @ 4:55pm
Bonjour!
At Horn's Mill we have been incorporating some French language into our day to day routines to further embed our knowledge across the school. In Team 5 we also learned some basic French conversation skills this week. Perhaps some of the children will try this out at home.
We will be learning about the Anglo Saxons this term so I asked the children to set the scene and tell me about what they had learned in history in Team 4. Children told me they had learned about the Romans and it is clear that we have many budding historians who have retained a lot of facts about the way that the Roman’s lived and their impact on Great Britain.
This week we talked about paragraphing in English and we used the acronym Tip Top to look at how information can be chunked in our writing. We then planned out our paragraphs for a diary entry from one of the characters in the Beowulf text
In maths, we have been learning more about methods of division. Of course, this relied heavily on our times tables and it has been good to see that an increasing number of children can recall their tables now. We will be consolidating our learning next week.
Just a couple of reminders:
- Please ensure reading books and records are brought in on Monday morning to be changed. We need a record of 5 reads in our reading records please.
- Please access Times Tables Rock Stars for 30 minutes every week. I will check on a Monday.
- Please can all children have a named water bottle available in school.
Have a wonderful weekend Team 5!
Kind regards
Mrs Hughes
