Semi-colons, relative clauses, modal verbs and adverbs for possibility have abounded this week, as it's been mostly filled with our Christmas books! We learned about the artistic technique of pointillism, and used it to create Christmas scenes for the front of our Christmas Books. We have spent a large part of each morning writing our own versions of 'A Kidnapped Santa Claus.' The children have come up with some very imaginative innovations - Mr Thomas especially loved one idea of Santa bribing one of the evil demons with a place at the top of the 'Good List' if the demon released him from captivity!

In Maths, we have been working hard on different mental addition and subtraction strategies, mostly focusing on counting on to subtract, using our place value knowledge and number bonds. Next week, we will move onto partitioning and counting on on a number line. The class are beginning to identify when each method is most effective and are starting to be able to explain why.

Next week's Mouse Mania is a Christmas Party!

Have a great weekend!
