Apologies for the delayed blog this week! For some reason the blog had not published when I clicked 'save' so it did not send!?

What another busy week we have had in Team 4!

In our English work this week, we have been busy experimenting with a range of sentence types and clauses in order to add additional information. We used different animals found in the rainforest as our hook for practicing these skills and we also watched a range of videos narrated by David Attenborough.

In our spelling work this week, we focussed on the suffix -ful. We practiced spelling a range of words that contained this suffix. You can support this learning at home by working through the following words with your child:

Joyful

Helpful

Delightful

Playful

Painful

In our math's learning this week, we were exploring how to find the area and perimeter of a range of shapes. We learnt methods to calculate both and then applied these methods to a range of problems and everyday scenarios.

In our afternoon learning, we completed the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), we continued learning all about the brain and how it works in our myHappymind lessons and in PE we continued learning how to throw and catch in our cricket unit.

What is happening this week:

We will be completing benchmark reading assessments all this week. As a result of this, we won't be sending children home with new books until after we have finished completing them all. Therefore, the children won't be asked to log five reads for this week in their reading records.

Monday

Please ensure reading books and records are brought in ready to be checked/swapped and that your child has logged five reads for the week just gone.

Tuesday

Team 4 will go with Mr Kershaw for 30 minutes after lunch as part of their transition ready for Team 5. During this time, they will complete a circle time all about Team 5.

Thursday

As we have a cricket day on Friday, the children won't be completing a PE lesson on Thursday so please send them in to school in their normal school uniform on Friday.

Friday

Friday is whole school cricket day.  It will also be school class photographs day. Please send your children to school in school uniform, not PE kit and bring trainers into school please. Children will do the cricket sessions in their school uniform.

Mouse Mania: This week the children have chosen bikes and scooters with Mrs Caroe. Please ensure that they bring a helmet with them if they bring in a bike or scooter.
