What another busy week we have had in Team 4!

In our English learning this week, we were busy finishing writing our own stories based on our class text 'When The Giant Stirred'. We wrote all about the volcano erupting using a range of skills learnt throughout the unit to bring this to life in the reader's mind through word choice and a range of sentence types. Once we had finished writing our stories, we then spent time proof reading and editing what we had written in order to identify mistakes, correct them and then improve our writing as well. 

In our spelling work, we focussed on the prefix -inter. We looked at what happens to a root word once we have added this prefix and then practiced spelling a range of words that use this prefix. You can support this learning at home by practicing the following words:

Internet

Intergalactic

Interlock

Intercity 

In our math's work, we started a new unit of learning all about money. We learnt how to add a range of coins together using our prior knowledge of decimals from our previous unit. You can support this work at home by giving your child a range of coins and asking them to add them together and then write down the total (for example £1 + 50p + 20p + 5p = £1.75).

In our afternoon learning, we were busy continuing practicing our times tables in preparation for our upcoming Multiplication Tables Check, in geography we finished writing our own non-chronological reports about volcanoes, in DEAR time we continued reading a range of books from our book corner and in PE we practiced a range of strategies and techniques to help us run long distances. 

What is happening next week

Monday

Please ensure reading records and books are brought in so that they can be checked and swapped. Please ensure that your child has logged five reads for the week gone. 

You are invited to attend our parent's residential meeting at 6pm so you can hear all about the trip and what your child will be doing when we are there. 

Thursday

PE as usual so please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit on this day.

Friday

Mouse Mania this week is dodgeball (children do not need to bring anything in).
