What another busy week we have had in Team 4!

In our English learning this week, we were busy writing up our very own non-chronological reports about the rainforest. We began by looking at a range of non-chronological reports to explore what they looked like and how they are set out. We then planned and started writing out our very own non-chronological reports telling our readers what a rainforest is and where they are located. Next week we will continue writing about the animals found in the rainforest and also other important aspects of these incredible habitats.

In spelling work this week, we explored the c sound spelt –que and the g sound spelt –gue. You can support this learning by practising the following words at home with your child:

  • Cheque
  • Antique
  • Tongue
  • League
  • Unique

In our math’s learning this week, we continued exploring shapes and how to classify them. We explored quadrilateral shapes, different types of triangles such as scalene and equilateral triangles and also identifying lines of symmetry in a range of shapes.

In our afternoon learning, we were busy practising for our class play, we completed our weekly times table challenge and in circle time we explored different methods to identify when feeling upset or frustrated and how to articulate these feelings.

A couple of reminders for the week ahead:

Monday is our transition day so the children will spend the day with Mr Kershaw to help prepare them for September. Children will come in to school via the usual Team 3/4 entrance and I will dismiss them from here at the end of the day.

Please can children bring in their reading books and records on Tuesday ready to be checked and have their books swapped. Please ensure that your child has logged five reads in their record for the week just gone.

On Thursday morning, the children will be performing their class play to show off their learning all about the Romans. We have had to change the venue slightly so this will now be in our class. At 8.55am, we will invite you to come and sit in the classroom ready for a 9am start. We then would like to invite you to stay for a hot chocolate with us all after the play.

On Thursday, we will have PE as usual. Please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit on this day.

Friday’s Mouse Mania is free time on the field so the children do not need to bring anything in.

Have a wonderful weekend all!

Mr L and Mrs Caroe
