Team 4 Wb 22.4.24

Date: 27th Apr 2024 @ 9:03pm

What another busy week we have had in Team 4!

In our English learning this week, we finished reading our class text ‘When the Giant Stirred’. We analysed the different parts of the story and then plotted them on an emotions graph so that we could see how the author built excitement in the story at each stage. Once complete, the children then planned their own stories based on this structure ready to write next week.

In spelling this week, the children explored how the suffix -ly can be added to an adjective (describing word) to turn the word into an adverb. You can support this learning at home by practising the following words with your child:

  • Sleepily
  • Angrily
  • Breezily
  • Cosily
  • Cheekily

In maths, the children completed a small unit all about converting measurements. They learnt that there are 100cm in 1m, 1000m in 1km and also that there are 1000g in 1kg. Using this knowledge, the children then applied this learning to a range of everyday word problems and real life scenarios. On Monday afternoon, the children also completed their weekly times tables test. Please remember to keep on practising your child’s times tables in preparation for the upcoming Multiplication Tables Test.

In our afternoon learning, the children learnt how to bat in PE with Cheshire Cricket, a range of painting and drawing techniques in art with Mrs Coman Jones and in geography, they completed research all about Europe ready to create their very own non-chronological reports all about Europe.

The class were also very excited to finish reading ‘Varjak’s Paw’ which was our whole class book that we read each day.

Just a couple of quick reminders:

  • Monday is our PE day this half term so please ensure your child comes to school on Monday in their school PE kit.
  • On Monday we also swap children’s books so please ensure that reading records and books are brought in so we can swap them.
  • Mouse Mania this week is colouring so the children do not need to bring anything.

See you on Monday!
