What a busy first week back we have had!

In our English learning, we re-read our class story and plotted the different stages of the story on a story mountain. We then created our own plans ready to write our own stories next week.

In our spelling work, we explored the suffix -ly and the different rules used to add this suffix to a root word. You can support this learning at home by practising the following words with your child:

Slowly

Gently

Carefully

Helplessly

Dangerously

 

In maths, we continued exploring decimals. We learnt that objects can be broken into one hundred pieces which we call hundredths. We then practiced adding ones, tenths and hundredths together to make a decimal answer. 

In our afternoon learning, we started writing our own non-chronological reports about volcanos, in PE we started our new unit focussing on athletics and we also continued learning our times tables in preparation for the upcoming MTC.

What is happening next week:

 

After school clubs start this week. 

 

Please ensure your child brings in their reading record and book on Monday ready to be checked/swapped.

 

On Monday, parents/family members are invited to attend our open afternoon. Starting at 2.30pm, you can come in and have a look at your child’s work. Once finished, you can then take your child home to save you waiting until 3.15pm.

 

Thursday is PE day as usual. Please send your child into school in their PE kit.

 

Mouse Mania on Friday is the game survivor on the field (children do not need to bring anything in)
