Team 4 Wb 16.6.25

Date: 21st Jun 2025 @ 5:52pm

What another busy week we have had in Team 4!

In our English learning, we spent the week reading a range of poems from authors such as Matt Goodfellow. After we had read them, we explored their pattern and their structure. We then discussed what a community is and the different communities we might be part of (sport’s teams etc). We then discussed our school community and what values we would want to see in our school. Finally, we created our own poems all about the different important characteristics we thought people needed to be part of the Horn’s Mill community.

In our spelling work this week, we were exploring words that contain the /s/ sound spelt /sc/. You can support this learning at home by practising the following words with your child:

Science

Scent

Scene

Fascinate

Scissors

In our math’s work this week, we completed our learning all about geometry by applying our learning of area and perimeter to a number of different everyday problems. We also finished our end of unit review so that we had the opportunity to apply all of our math’s learning so far and revisit prior learning.

In our afternoon learning, we continued practising our times tables, in history we continued learning all about the Iron Age and in PE we completed our cricket session on the field.

What is happening this week

We have now finished reading assessments with the majority of the class. As new books only went out at the end of last week, I won’t be asking the children to have logged five reads in their records for Monday. Please ensure that five reads have been logged in books for the following Monday (30th June).

Monday we have Sport’s Day. We hope you can join us and that we have lovely weather!

This week, we have Team 6’s Pound for Profit which starts on Tuesday. If your child would like to buy something, please send them in with some money so that they can purchase items during breaktime from the different stalls.

On Thursday morning, Mr Kershaw will be taking the class for a reading lesson so that the children can spend some more time with him and get to know him.

Thursday is our usual PE day so please ensure that children come to school in their PE kits on this day.

Mouse Mania on Friday is Bikes and Scooters. Please remember that if your child wants to bring a bike or scooter, they must bring a helmet.

Date for your diaries:

On Thursday 10th July, we would like to invite you to our sharing assembly where we will be showcasing our learning all about the Romans. The assembly will start at 9am in the hall and will last for approximately 25 minutes. We hope you can join us!

Have a lovely weekend all!

Mr L
