Team 4 Wb 12.5.25

Date: 17th May 2025 @ 11:40am

What another busy week we have had in Team 4!

In our English learning this week, we started a new unit all about the Rainforest. We made predictions about the new book and then created a list of questions we wanted to discover about the book. We then spent time researching the rainforest and what makes this such an incredible habitat.

In our spelling work this week, we explored the sounds ei, ey, ay and eigh. You can support this learning at home by practising the following words with your child:

Weight

Reign

Obey

Sleigh

Prey

In maths, we started a new unit all about measurement. We applied our previous learning about fractions and decimals to help us convert between cm and m and then m and km. We also continued learning our times tables in preparation for our upcoming Multiplication Tables Check.

In our afternoon learning, we learnt about the water cycle in science and how the state of water changes at different points, in PE we developed tactics to help us run 800m without tiring too quickly and in geography, we used maps to help us to plan a sight-seeing tour of Chester.

A couple of reminders for next week:

On Monday, please ensure that your child brings in their reading record and book ready to be checked and swapped. Please note, we will be benchmarking the children this week so books won’t come home until later in the week once we have assessed all of the children.

Thursday is PE day as usual so please send your child in to school in their PE kit on this day.

On Friday, Mouse Mania is a film and sweets. Your child can bring in a small bag of sweets to enjoy during the film. Please note that we are a nut free school so please ensure that items the children bring in do not contain nuts.

In preparation for the MTC, you can help your child by asking them to log on to ‘MTC UR Brainy’ each day and getting them to complete the short 3 minute test.

Finally, a big thank you to all who were able to attend the residential meeting on Monday. I have added the PowerPoint to our class page on the school website for those who were unable to make the meeting.

Have a wonderful weekend Team 4!
