What a great first week back after half term!

In English, we have enjoyed the introduction to our new unit! We are learning all about whales! We have predicted what our teaxt will be about by looking at the front cover and the blurb. Using a colour coding key, we differentiated between a command, a question, a exclamation and a statement sentence. Then, we discussed and added in the correct punctionation. On Tuesday, we found out some new facts which we recorded on a fact sheet. From this, we were able to write a letter to Chester Zoo which told them all about our knowledge we gained from the book. Then we asked specific questions that we would like to find out. We can't wait to post these next week... fingers crossed for a response!

In Maths this week, we have moved on to our next unit of length. The children have enjoyed using different methods of measure and have experimented with centimetres are metres.

In PE, we have started our new unit of dance. This involved us learning our new Stone Age dance ready for our assembly on the 22nd March. This linked extreamly well to our focus in Music, learning about rhythm and keeping a steady beat.

In RE we have been thinking about lent this week. We challenged ourseles to consider what we could give up for lent and discussed how hard it would be to sacrifise.

During History, we are slowly coming to the end of our Stone Age topic. We explored the Iron Age and looked at the difference between the other periods of history. After exploreing Helsby Hillfort, we created and labeled our own artist illustrations of the hillfort.

Thank you for all efforts in world book. All the children looked fantastic and enjoyed celebrating their favourite books.

Have a lovely weekend.
