Team 3 WB 2.10.23

Date: 4th Oct 2023 @ 6:03pm

4 weeks in to Team 3 already!

Team 3's highlight of week definitely has to be their visit to the library. We were able to look at a variety of different books and some us even found some hidden interests.

Children's behaviour was exceptional! Library staff were very impressed with their enthusiasm and interest towards the library. After a lovely story about our topic of coasts, we even had time to visit the park.

In maths this week we have been using the column method and were introduced to renaming. We quickly learnt that there are 10 ones in 1 ten and 10 hundreds in 100. Once that was mastered, we moved on to placing this in a column and had to remember to rename and add the ten. Next week we will be moving on to subtracting using place value.

In English we have been introduced a new text, Seal Surfer. We had lots of clues including shells, a walking stick, a seal and a surfboard... hmmm. We are very intrigued to find out what the story is about. On the first page we hunted for prepositions and applied them into our own sentences.

In art this week we have been focusing on exploring watercolours and acrylic paint. We used blending to make colours go from dark to light. By looking at a photo from our artist, Jen Callahan, we observed that she used a variety of blended and bleeding colours to add a ripple effect in the water. We explored and experimented to try and achieve this look as well.

Please ensure your child is doing TTRockstars and reading every night. Just a reminder to make sure the reading journal and book goes back in their school bag so it is coming in to school everyday.

Have a lovely weekend, Miss Morris.
