What a fabulous last week of term in Team 3!

In English, the children have done remarkably well in their end of unit big write.

After picking out some spellings that we found tricky as a class, we did some work on spelling patterns and adding suffixes. We then practicsed applying these in a sentence. After that, we were extreamly excited to enter a Key Stage 2 competition. This involved us planning and writing a diary entry as if we had entered a historical event for the first time. Of course, we chose the stone age! We were so enthusisatic to show off all our skills, including subordinate clauses, fronted adverbials and adverbs.

We have found maths very tricky this week but the childrens resilience has shone. We have moved on from multiplication and started our new chapter of division and division with renaiming. We have enjoyed using denes to share our tens and ones into different groups.

I have been super impressed with how articulate the children are when explaining the process of division and their use of our key words. This included partition, tens, ones and renaming. We have enjoyed the challenge of using our number bonds and multiples knowledge to partition numbers in different ways.

We have been lerning about democracy this week. We took part in a vote and had a circle time. We discussed what each of us strongly believe in and why. There were some fantastic ideas like stopping war, stopping homelessness, ocean pollution and no littering. Next, we spoke about key characteristics that we would need to be a leader. We then wrote a powerful speech about what attributes they have that would make them a good leader. Its fair to say that we definately have some primisters in the making!

In science, we have explored 3 different soil types and explored which soils are the best drainer and which are the best soakers.

Have a lovely week!

Team 3 :)
