Week 1 back, completed! I hope you all had a lovely half term break, I was certainly ready to see everyone again and WOW, what a fabulous first week back we have had. I have been blown away this week with the effort and progress the children have shown in the writing, it’s fantastic. This week in English we have created a piece of writing, telling the reader all about how Tabitha is not like other boys and girls. It has been lovely to see how much effort and passion they have put into their writing.

In math this week, we have continued exploring subtraction. Similarly, the children have approached math in a very confident manner. It has been lovely seeing them work together to solve different problems, even when they might find it a bit tricky.

In our afternoons this week, we have been up to lots! In Science, we have explored materials. Particularly, we looked at the purpose of materials. So, we explored a chocolate teapot, a glass hammer and a cardboard shoe and we had to decide which one was the odd one out and why. This was really interesting and sparked lots of discussion! We then had a look at some real life examples and explored a glass spoon, a plastic spoon and a metal spoon. In geography, we have started looking at how the world is organized into continents and oceans. To begin with, we played a song to help us remember and we had a little dance. Then, we worked as a table to sort out the different continents and match them up to where they belong. In PE this week, we explored different low and high positions as well as working together as a team, to see whether we could organize ourselves from tallest to smallest standing on a bench. But we couldn’t fall off!!!

To end another brilliant week, we are celebrating with a ‘learning time’ Mouse Mania, as the children have chosen. Have a lovely weekend everyone and I’ll see you on Monday!
