Team 2 WB: 27.6.22

Date: 1st Jul 2022 @ 1:26pm

Another wonderful week in Team 2. We have been extra busy this week squeezing as much in as possible. In English, this week we have been focusing on lots of different skills. Firstly, we have been looking at how to change our writing from the present tense to past tense. Like always, I was really impressed with how well and confidently the children have picked this up. To help us, we looked at the different ‘rules’ we can follow when changing the verb by adding ‘ed’. Then, we moved on and explored, from George’s perspective, what it would be like to fly over the sleeping town in our dragon machine. So, today we applied our own understanding, writing in first person about what it would be like if we were flying over the time. Now, we are ready for Monday as we are going to apply all of our skills and create our own diary entry.

In maths, we are coming towards the end of our fractions unit. We have been exploring different amounts and capacities of ¾ as well as applying our understanding into word problems. Finally, towards the end of the week we have been counting in fractions, this was pretty mind blowing for us!!

For our afternoon learning this week, we have explored lots of different topics. Along with the usual like spelling and handwriting, we have also been accessing ‘hit the button’ to strengthen our times table recall, especially the 2’s. I have set the children a challenge to see if they can beat their personal best over the weekend. We have also continued our science experiment, looking at the different stimulus plants need in order to grow. In PE, we have adapted our defending and attacking skills to facilitate a game of dodge ball and on Tuesday, Mrs Caroe joined us for art. This week, we also got to enjoy the fabulous Team 1’s assembly, enjoy the sunshine and celebrate another fantastic week with ‘dress up’ or our own clothes for Mouse Mania. Have a lovely weekend everyone, see you on Monday!
