Team 1 WB 9th June

What a busy and productive week we’ve had in class!
We began the week with our Phonics Screening Check, and we are incredibly proud of all the children for their hard work and focus. Every child gave their best effort, and it was lovely to see their confidence and progress shine through.
In English, we continued retelling our story based on Toys in Space by Mini Grey. The children have been impressing us with their storytelling skills, using exciting language, applying suffixes, and carefully changing verbs into the past tense. Their creativity and attention to detail are really beginning to flourish!
In Maths, we wrapped up our learning about money. The children have been identifying and counting different coins and notes, and we encourage you to continue practising this at home. Activities such as playing shop or sorting change can really help reinforce their understanding and build confidence with real-life applications.
During our RE lessons, we learned about the Qur'an and its importance to Muslims. The children explored why it is treated with such care and respect, and they learned about the ritual of wudu – the washing process performed before handling the Qur’an. Ask your child to share what they’ve learnt; they were fascinated by the ritual and respectful in their discussions.
With Sports Day on the horizon, we’ve started practising our events and talking about determination and effort. We read the story of The Hare and the Tortoise and compared it to the egg and spoon race – reminding ourselves that “slow and steady wins the race!”
Finally, a huge well done to our poetry competition finalists. Each of them performed so confidently and with such expression – they truly were amazing, and we are so proud of them all!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
