Team 1 WB 6.2.23

Date: 14th Feb 2023 @ 11:04am

We have had a focus on boosting our mental health this week as part of ‘Children’s Mental Health Week’. We hope you have enjoyed the fun Wake Up Shake Up sessions on the playground in the mornings. We enjoyed expressing ourselves through our clothes on Dress to Express day. We met up with our Team 6 buddies to connect with them as this year’s theme for the week is ‘Let’s Connect’. We drew round our hand and our buddy’s hand, before discussing what similarities we have eg. ‘We both like swimming’, ‘we both have smelly feet’, and ‘we both live in Helsby’.

In maths this week we have continued addition within 20 by working on making 10 first, so we have been ‘Ten Detectives’ this week. This is a key concept for children to master and will support their mental maths calculations throughout their lives.

In English we have read to the end of our class text, The Lion Inside. We wrote letters to the authors telling them which part was our favourite. The children wrote beautifully, using all of the skills we have been learning.

In history, we continued our learning on the history of shopping by exploring all of the shops we would have needed to visit to make a burger back in the 1940s. It would not have been as simple as popping to the local supermarket back then!

In RE, we enjoyed learning all about Judaism before sharing our learning in a sharing assembly on Friday. Team 1 looked at the symbols you might find inside a synagogue, and about the artefacts used by Jews in their faith. We made some beautiful watercolour paintings of a synagogue, showing some of the Jewish faith symbols.

In PE, we enjoyed putting our learning about dance into our own movements by using a familiar piece of music. We used our Champion Dancer skills to respond to the music and use controlled movements.

Have a wonderful weekend, Team 1!

Mrs Weeks, Miss Thomas and Mr Flaherty.
