Team 1 WB 16.1.23

This week in English, we wrote a diary entry from the point of view of Nibbles, the monster in our book. The children worked incredibly hard at including all of the skills we have been learning over the year in their work, and produced some beautiful writing. In today’s English lesson, we were interrupted by the arrival of a letter from Chester Zoo telling us they are expecting 2 new arrivals at the zoo: a mouse and a lion. They know that we are learning about animals in science, and asked us as experts to write back to the zoo with information on each animal.

In maths, we have completed our revision chapter of all our learning so far this year, and we have begun a new unit on number and place value up to 20.

In geography we learned that every country has its own flag. We looked at the designs of the flags of the 4 countries of the United Kingdom and how three of them fit together to make the Union Flag. We designed our own flag for an imaginary country.

In RE we learned about symbols in Christianity, and made our own symbols to represent different aspects of our lives.

In music, we learned about rhythm. We copied rhythms and made our own rhythms which we drew on a 4-beat template.

In PE we continued our dance unit by creating movements representing each part of our growing seed poem.

We had fun tasting the bread we made in DT last week.

To celebrate our learning this week, we brought in toys from home to share with our friends. Well done for your great effort this week, Team 1!

Mrs Weeks, Mr Flaherty and Miss Thomas.
