What a gorgeous sunny week we have had!

The children were absolutely super on sports day on Monday, despite the heat. We hope you enjoyed the day if you were able to make it. We had a wonderful time.

In English this week we rewrote the story of Toys in Space. The children used the Mighty Writer to support their composition and use of suffixes and features of writing which we have been learning across this half term.

In Maths, we completed our unit on division by making equal groups, and began a new unit on fractions. So far, we have learnt about what a half is, and that a whole is made up of two halves which must be equal parts. Next week we learn about quarters. Any support with looking at halves at home would really help their understanding.

In science, we looked at images of people as babies and now they are adults. We discovered that some things change about their appearance, and some things stay the same. We worked out that as people get older they get taller and their hands get bigger. We noticed that our skin colour does not change.

In PE we used our feet to dribble a ball and keep it under control.

We have had fun spending some pennies at Team 6’s pound for profit, and soaking Team 6 in the afternoon.

On Thursday afternoon the children spent a little time with Miss Coppock, who you will now know will be their teacher in Team 2. This was a great opportunity for the children to get to know her.

To celebrate our learning this week, we spent some lovely time in the woodlands for Mouse Mania.

We are looking forward to our last week with Miss Mac, our student teacher, next week.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Mrs Weeks, Miss Thomas, Mr Flaherty and Miss McElhinney.
