Team 3 WB 2.5.23

Date: 4th May 2023 @ 5:15pm

Team 3 have had a ball this week! From being Egyptians in our Ancient Egypt workshop to being investigators on our field trip.

For our Egyptian workshop, we were set a challenge to investigate the question: could the ancient Egyptians have existed without the river Nile? We compared artefacts from Ancient Egypt with items we have in the modern day. We also explored the importance of a river, how ancient Egyptians traded and how essential the civilisations discoveries were and their impact on our lives today.

As part of our geography and science fieldtrip, we took part in a river enquiry based at Alyn Waters. We collected rocks from different areas of the river and used a roundness scale to compare their shape. We found that as we went further downstream, the rocks got rounder. Our second part of the day consisted of a plant life enquiry. We used a quadrant and choose 4 sites across the grounds to collect this data from. We dropped the quadrat in this area and identified how many different plant species there were. We considered why some areas didn’t have as many plants as others.

In maths, we have finished our unit of graphs and will now be moving onto telling the time! We are already proving to be super good at it however, if you could start to practise this at home that would be fantastic!

Have a fantastic weekend!
