Reception WB 12.2.24
Date: 15th Feb 2024 @ 3:46pm
Good Afternoon,
Reception have enjoyed our Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year learning this week. Our classroom has reflected these themes and children have been completing different activiites around the classroom. These have included making valentine's cards, love potions, using chopsticks and exploring books about other cultures. The classroom has been extremley focused and busy this week.
Linked to Valentine's, we have explored the feeling of love and what this might feel like. We've used the Colour Monster story to help us understand this feeling and how it might look around the classroom. Children have been talking about ways in which we can show love towards our friends.
Tuesday was Pancake Day too, so we enjoyed decorating pancakes with the toppings of our choice during rolling snack. These included sprinkles, cream and marshmellows. This was most defintely a treat snack!
During maths we have been using the language of 'more than' and 'fewer than' to describe quanitities and amounts. Children have been completing different games, where they have had to spot a given quantity, where the pictures or items are different. This has helped children to extend their understanding of this skill and the mathematical langugage.
We hope you all have a lovely half term break and we will see you back in school on Monday 26th Feb.
Mrs Davies :)
