And just like that it’s half term! What a crazy, fun and busy 7 weeks we’ve had. The children have truly settled into Team 2 really well and it’s so nice to see them becoming more confident around the classroom. As it’s the end of half term, we’ve had a jam packed time. In Math this week, we have continued our understanding of subtraction and the children are doing really well with this. Our resilience in math is becoming better and I am loving seeing children giving things a go even when it can be challenging. In English this week, we have been introduced to a new character, Tabitha. So, this week we have been comparing how Tabitha is different to usual boys and girls as well as how she is similar and different to Horrid Henry.

During our afternoon learning we have focused on strengthening our phonics. We have done lots of work on the ‘ur’ and ‘er’ sound. During Geography, we continued to build our understanding of the local area and strengthen our map reading skills. In Art, we created our own Tabitha, jumping out of a box. This was really cool! In science, we have started our new unit, focusing on materials. So, we took the opportunity to move around the classroom looking at different materials. Finally, on Thursday, we celebrated Hinduism day. We went on a journey looking at all the different celebrations, but we particularly focused on Diwali. We decided to create a dance all about Diwali including the story of Rama and Sita. The children were really enthusiastic about this and it was really fun to create. We even preformed the dance in front of the whole school and their confidence and maturity was brilliant! To end a brilliant week off, we then had popcorn and sweets to end our Mouse Mania. It’s time for a well-deserved break and I’ll see you back on the 1st of November!
