What another busy week in Team 4!

This week in English, we have been learning how to generate a range of fronted adverbials and then use them in our writing to engage and excite our reader. We created descriptive pieces about a haunted mansion providing the children with an opportunity to apply their learning in a short burst write.

In our spelling work this week, we have been learning how to spell words ending in –ous. We learnt that when root words (original words) end in an e such as fame, then we drop the e and add –ous on so fame becomes famous. You can support this learning at home by practising the following words with your child:

Famous

Fabulous

Generous

Dangerous

Poisonous

In our math’s learning this week, we have been exploring how to compare numbers using our knowledge and understanding of place value. We used the greater than and less than symbols and applied this learning within a range of problem solving activities. We also ended the week learning about how to round numbers to the nearest 1000 which we will continue learning about next week.

In our afternoon learning, we continued developing our drawing skills with Mrs Carroe, in PE we went on our weekly swimming trip to develop our swimming skills and in science we learnt about food chains and the impact disruption on them can have on a range of wildlife including gorillas.

Have a great weekend Team 4!
