This week I have been really impressed with the enthusiasm for our maths learning, we have begun to learn how to skip count. We have looked at counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. we will  move on next week to using this counting to count objects. If you have any opportunities to count objects at home it would really support your child’s learning in class. E.g. counting toys into the toy box in 2s, counting the chips on your plate in 2s, counting the fingers in your family in 5s, counting the toes in your family in 10s. (I’m clearly running out of ideas)

In literacy we looked at our new book “The Curious Case of The Woolly Mammoth” The boy in the book is called Oscar and he needs to help the woolly mammoth find his little brother Teddy. The woolly Mammoth led Oscar to a museum where all the exhibits have come to life!

We wrote a recount of what we saw using -ed endings and -ing endings. E.g “The flamingo was dancing and the polar bear chomped on a sandwich.”

In Geography we explored a map of the world, we plotted where the arctic climates such as Iceland and Greenland were. Then we plotted where the tropical climates like Dubai and Thailand were. We learned that the hot climates were in the middle by the equator.

We then went to look at what plants and fruits grow in hot climates. We were very jealous to find out about the animals that lived in the wild in these hot climates and that they had beautiful beaches, hot temperatures and swimming pools.

Have a fantastic weekend.
